STOP-portunities await

Make some new year's DISSOLUTIONS

It’s that time again.

Time for you to find some STOP-portunity in your life.

Long story short: each January I trim negative things from my life to make way for positive things. Creating more from less.

Instead of making new year's resolutions that typically wither away. Try making some 2024 dissolutions: get rid of stuff that is not serving you.

Examples include ditching toxic friends and making more time for those who are there for you. Or dumping social media scrolling and replacing it with meaningful conversations with those that matter most to you.

Most of us don’t have space or time for adding new things or greater complexity. So, let’s try to prioritise greater clarity and perhaps some downtime.

I promise you will feel better after you have taken out some of your metaphorical trash.

My 2024 STOP-portunities include...

Rationalising my library of books that I am NEVER going to read again. Someone else can have that burden. RESULT: Huge guilt weight removed from my office.

Cutting down an orchard of apple trees. I don’t like the apples and whilst they look nice, they are hard work to maintain and I never get to it. RESULT: gardening guilt removed, workload reduced, space for fruit I enjoy.

Changing my expectations of some people around me. I like these people, but they don’t live up to my expectations. RESULT: reducing or removing expectations means I am no longer going to be let down or disappointed by others and can enjoy the friendship more. I hope.

That’s all.

But what about you? What can you trim and simplify? How can you make more from less?
