Your impact

HOW we inform and engage others lifts or limits our success. Our impact sets the roof for our achievements. It directly impacts or boosts our career, our team and business outcomes.

Impact that LIFTS

When we invite opinions and listen to the perspectives of employees, we include insights and ideas beyond our own thinking. This makes our leadership more effective as we have asked questions, listened and made decisions based on multiple sources. In this approach our decisions have more rigour. They are more likely to be right and gain support. They involve, engage and are transparent. This is because our impact and communication was open, two way and inclusive.

Impact that LIMITS

When we charge ahead on our own or tell others what to do, we limit opportunities and our chances of success. In this scenario we fail to listen or don't take the views of others on. Consequently, these type of decisions or way of problem solving is limited by our own views and can be short sighted. This approach increases the chance of wrong decisions or solutions that miss the mark and fall flat with others. In this scenario our impact is limited as our communication was one way, closed and lacked input from others.

More open decision making lifts our impact. The benefits of being more open and inclusive include:

  • more informed decisions that lead to better outcomes, results

  • greater insights, sense checking on views and diverse thinking

  • greater involvement and ownership of decisions across teams

  • higher employee engagement as employees see themselves in decisions and their performance improves.

IMPROVE YOUR IMPACT RIGHT NOW: Think about where you are on my ladder of impact. Is your impact lifting up your results or limiting them? Which rung are you on? What can you do to improve?

The GOOD NEWS is that we can all improve our impact. If making a bigger impact is something you are interested in, then please get in touch to discuss plan to lift you up.

Over the next few months I am running workshops for leaders on how to shift their results by having more impact. These are one day workshops run in-house. They help leaders understand how inclusion and involvement improve leadership and shift impact, performance and results.
